OLYMPIA… Addi Boleware, a student at Kennewick High School, recently spent a week working as a page for the Washington State Senate in Olympia.

Boleware was one of 19 students who served as Senate pages for the fourth week of the 2026 legislative session.

She was sponsored by Sen. Matt Boehnke, R-Kennewick, who represents the 8th Legislative District, serving part of Franklin and Benton counties.

“It was delightful to have Addi page for us this week,” said Boehnke. “I’m glad students get to learn about state government in-person and at such a young age. I’m happy Addi had a positive experience.”

The Senate Page Program provides an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working at Legislature. Students transport documents between offices and deliver messages and mail. Pages spend time in the Senate chamber and attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Students also draft their own bills and engage in a legislative mock session.

“I think this program is a great way to explore new opportunities,” said Boleware. “I wanted to join this program to see if I liked working at the legislature, and I believe the impact this program will have on my career will help lead the way.”

Boleware enjoys softball, theatre, and playing bass clarinet. She applied to the Page program to learn about the legislative process and explore new interests. Her favorite activity in the program was her mock committee, where she enjoyed hearing thought-provoking questions and meaningful discussions about certain bills. She would like to attend New York University and become a teacher with a minor in either math or music.

Boleware, 15, is the daughter of Christina Jacobsen and Jonathan Boleware of Kennewick.

The last day to apply for the Senate Page Program for the 2026 session is Feb. 20, or until all available openings are filled. Page applications for the 2027 legislative session open Nov. 1, 2026.
